Ok, well I am the proud owner of a 03 A6 Quattro Sport 4.2L but am unable to get a carbon fiber hood as they are not made. I spoke to Seibon and VIS today and was informed that if I can produce 20 individuals with the A6 that falls within this year range they will produce the hood for rougly $800.00 a piece. So I am asking that anyone with this vehicle that is SERIOUS about getting a carbon hood post in my thread and if we reach 20 SERIOUS individuals then we can arrange to have the hood produced.

If you are just thinking about it then please do not post and waste time as I am serious and this post is for those that are serious as well.

Why do you want carbon fiber hood for an A6? IMHO that would look like total s**t.

Well you are entitled to your opinion... However whatI want is what I want and depending on the A6 you have it looks sick.. So to make it short your opinion really doesn't matter..

I can see a carbon fiber hood on a A4, but not a A6.I don't think the A6 is the right car for a carbon fiber hood. Is there any other ways to put the A6 on a diet?

Who said it has to be a CIVIC to run acarbo hood????? So then tell them to stop making hoods for the IS300... Your views are way out of whack..

May be very difficult to get 20 people on this group buy, especially since the hood on a 4.2 will not fit on a 2.7T or a 3.2 .

Good luck getting 20 people, let alone two. Don't ever compare an Audi to a Toyota product again[:@].

Seems like an incredible waste of $800 to me. Just save all the money you would have spent on mods and buy a lighter car, instead of devaluing an A6.

Why would I want a lighter car???????? Why do you all think I want to lighten the car???? It is for LOOKS, do you understand LOOKS....

No sarcasm. An Audi A6 is leaps and bounds more sophisticated and classy than an IS300. The new BMW M3 has a carbon fiber roof, but IMO, it was a big waste of money. Money better spent on performance brakes. An aftermarket hood will cheese this car up big time. Of course, you can do whatever you want to your car. BTW, I could be wrong about you getting 20 people. I have been surprised by what some Audi owners think is cool.

I agree that is why I chose the A6, however i am not saying that a carbon hood is for everyone and let a lone for an A6. I just feel with my setup and the way my car looks I thought it would look kinda cool. And as far as the M3 goes, well yeah i think $5000.00 or so could absolutely be spent elsewhere.

Call me a traditionalist, but I feel that carbon fibre is a material designed to achieve a certain strength whilst saving weight, not for aesthetics. My other road car has a whole heap of carbon parts as standard (but painted and not obviously carbon), and my race car is built from carbon, but I would never consider getting carbon body panels for an Audi. In my opinion,it would make it look like a cheap ricer. The only worse things would be to put big chrome wheels on it and lower the suspension.

Well I see lotta opnionated people here! Why do we care if he wants to put a carbon fiber hood on his car? it is HIS car and really it is a matter of taste. I am personally not a fan but it can lighten the car, lower cebter of gravity... some... and look good for some poeple.. I actually saw a brand new M6 last saturday with carbon hood and top. It is not my preference but lots of people liked it... if it is done well, it might look ok on a dark color A6. However, I do agree you'll have a hard time gettig 20 orders for a wide body A6, you might get more if it was for a narrow body such as the 2.7T which are on average more modded than the 4.2.. Just be careful who you go with, I ahve seen some really bad fit on carbon/aftermarket hoods! good luck!

LOL... Funny thing is I could care less on what people think about the idea.. It is my car and I knew coming into this I would never get 20 people that want a hood, but it was an idea and wanted to get input and see if there were any takers... No harm no fowl and thanks...

I agree to a point and no I do not have big chrome rims, they are hyper black with a polished lip and yes the suspension is lowered... I may be 34, but im still a kid at heart and love the look of it lowered, TO A CERTAIN DEGREE...

Formu, if it did happen it would be with VIS or Seibon... Both require a 20 lot minimum... but again i know it will not happen, I just thought it may look cool and liked the idea of it...

Each to his own, but I would agree that a carbon hood on the A6 is a step backwards, even one on a A4 is borderline.

Audi is a statement a statement of CLASS at least for some.... please don't ruin that with cheap looking products. just like wings on an Audi [:'(][:'(][:'(] sicking.

We are talking about a big diffrence bettween a STOCK item on a factory built car, vs a cheaply built aftermarket part, that is not stock to the car.

I wouldnt really consider a CF hood a cheap mod. VIS is sorta cheap because its actually fiberglass with cf on top, not true cf.

As for the looks i think that it COULD look good on the right setup, however most a6 drivers are trying to keep their look somewhat clean and sleeper. Carbon fiber screams rice. Even if it looks good, its not something you'll get much intrest of here.

Good luck with it though. Wouldnt mind seeing what it looked like on a decent setup.

A6Quattro4.2Sport, dude you wasted your money in Audi. For your taste, you could have done better with Hyundai Accent. Why are you going to places where Germans didn't bothered to go?

Audi is about Class, and Performance. Not, cheap looks and neon lights.

Shalom!

"Only thing worse is putting big chrome wheels on it"......NOT TRUE, 19" Chrome looks good on a A6, for some people (like myself), just putting rims on a car is enough and not interested in modding there car.

I am ashamed to admit this, but I once ownedan '02 Sentra spec V. After an accident in which my front end was destroyed, I deceded to put a CF hood on the car. It was from VIS racing, and the fit was horrible. Once on my black car, I was totally embarrassed to be seen in this thing. People thought my hood was not latched due to the gaps in the fit.

Now that I've grown up a bit, I would never ever do that to another car. I am doubtful I'd even chip my 2.7T at this point. Sure it sounds fun, but $800 for a potential mistake is too big a gamble.

Good luck if you choose to do this, but from my experience, I would never do it again. If I were forced to put a CF hood on my car, I'd paint it to match the car.

It all comes down to personal opinion. I don't like any non-factory mods, and really don't like chrome wheels. I've owned around 70 cars and of these, the few modified ones wereby farthe most thrashed and unreliable of the lot.
