Ticking noise while im driving?

Hi audi coupe 94 2.0 16v ace , while im driving i can hear a ticking noise coming from somewer think from engine thats my guess , the ticking noise gets louder on aceleration, if im parked and rev the car i cant hear anything only when i drive , noise is more noticeable when driving past other cars.

RE: Ticking noise while im driving?

Well it sounds like the valves might be tapping. I could be wrong, but my car does it every so often, usually goes away once it warms up. It probably just needs a valve adjustment. I also experimented with a heavier weight oil such as a 20W50 which seemed to work pretty good. But be aware that with a heavier weight oil, you are gonna have to let that baby warm up thoroughly before you get going. Wouldn't advise switching in the winter either as the heavier oil can and will gum up. Moving parts and not enoughoil upon startup and well, you get the idea.

RE: Ticking noise while im driving?

I dont think its the valves as you mentioned because if they wer then i will be getting the ticking noise even when im stood still, noise only comes when im driving, when im giving gas its at that point when i get the ticking noise if i back off the gas pedal ticking goes away, i read sumwer it can be the exhaust my exhaust middle box and rear muffler has got a hole in it, but would that cause ticking noise??
cambelt?
clutch?
