Try disconneting the battery for 10 minutes to clear the transmission TCM coding.TCM is Transmission Control Module. DSP is Dynamic Shift Program - It is what learns your driving style, road conditions, etc. and adjusts the shift points automatically. The TCM controls your transmission shift patterns. I have the same problem with my 92 Audi 80 4 speed automatic. If you have access to a VAGcom, then you can reprogram your transmission to shift smoother. You could also take it to a dealer who has a VAGcom, VW, Audi dealer and have them reprogram the tranny. Only takes about half hour. The only problem with disconnecting the battery is at first, your transmission seems to behave better, however once the fuzzy logic in the DSP learns, it reverts back to the way it was before you made the change. Sometimes mine shifts beautifully, the way it should, then the next time I start the car it shifts rough and erratic. It can be very frustrating. If you take the car to someone with a VAGcom, Tell them to turn the DSP "Off". You will be a much happier camper.
