Not sure what you mean by flash tuning, but I installed a GIAC chip at 74k and now have just under 110k.  I generally accelerate gently (really!) and mileage did not change.  I get 22-23mpg at 75mph, around 18-19 around town.  However, there is a noticeable increase in acceleration in all gears from 3500 rpm to red line, especially in 3rd and up.  I did have to replace my clutch, possibly due to the added power but the original owner did light towing until I bought the car with 37k miles.

Make sure you replace the diverter valves and throttle body boot at the same time.

I was under the impression that a APR chip would be the best kind of chipping? Is this the better than the APR?

APR is more balanced that most.  GIac is usually the most powerful.  Also, please dont bump old threads and then start a new one.  Just starting a new one is more than enough
