Default TT door sensor (?) problems

I own a 2002 audi tt roadster 225hp with almost 100k miles on it. recently when i close my driver side door the display still shows the image of the car with the door open. when i drive it stays on. opening and closing the door helps after about 20 times, playing with the windows dosnt seem to do much. the wierdest thing is sometimes opening the door is the best way to "trick" the car into "thinking" that the door is closed.

Has anyone ever had such a problem? where is the door sensor located? i need to get this fixed because sometimes i cant lock my car and the buzzer is on while driving VERY ANNOYING! thanks everyone.

Default RE: TT door sensor (?) problems

I have a TT as well with the same exact problem. Myalarm doesn'tturnon and the buzzing gets on my nerves. If the alarm doesactivate the switch will go off saying the doors open and there goes my alarm.[:@]
Now, I havent tried this but it has been done and it did work. Click .
If that doesn't seem too easy you can buy a new door latch mechanism from the stealer, I was told $250.00 for mine.
good luck

i mean only real option is taking out the door switch and playing w/ the contact and seeing if there is some kind of corrosion... if its internal. there is nothing you can do.

a cheap fix would be to remove the connector andon the harness side and put a paper clipfrom one side to the other... tricking the central locking module into thinking that the door is always closed. until you get enough money to purchase a new switch. put electrical tape around it so it doesn't ground out accidentally.

Default RE: TT door sensor (?) problems

Well thanks for the links and ideas. i havnt had any time to spend with my tt latley since ive been moving to arizona to go to school (finally out of my parents house at 20, pathetichuh?). anywho, i changed the oil and the air filter today, all i have left to fix before its back in tip top shape is that annoying door and my esp. ill do more reaserch on the esp before i ask any questions about it...

more to the point: How do i get to that micro switch??? i dont know how to remove the door panel and i cant find any advice on it anywhere! there are 2 "screws" (?) on the door where it touches the car frame when closed (does that make any sense?) wich appear to be the only screws that can be removed to take off the panel. i would gladly remove them, if i could. i have many different screw bits but none seem to fit. the heads haverequire a bit that idont have... illlook into that.

anyway (damn am i scatterbrained today) should i remove those bolts/screws or is there something else i have to do to get the door panel off inorder to check the microswitch?

thanks for putting up with my rambling
