I'm going to get a ECU and transmission chip when I get my income taxes back, most likely I will get the 2 bypass valves and a throttle body boot as well. I have a K&N drop in filter, I haven't had any problem with it. Is there any other mods could I get in the mean time?

I read so much stuff that I think I'm confusing myself.

Abbott, I can think of K04s along with the chip, only if you haven't thought of that,

I have a warranty up to 100,000 miles. If the turbos fail b4 then, I will get the K04's, if not, then I cant do it. I heard there were like $1000 a peices.

Hmm... makes sense. I have a warranty until 100K miles too, but my dealer was particularly insistent on the chips and said that the warranty will be void for engine if you will install the chip. What does your dealer has to say? Any ideas??

The chip will void mines too, but I was gonna get the reprogramably chip so when I take it to the deal, it will show that its stock, but I'm still up in the air about the chip tho.

Man, I will think thrice before I take that decision. I am concerned about turbo chargers too. Though, I have only 40K miles on my car.

I have 60k miles on mines. So bacisally all we can do for ours cars is to get the K04's and a chip? I want to do something to it, but I do feel you on not getting a chip, I've be up in the air about the chip for months now.

So beside the chip and K04's what do people usually get done?

Air intake system and free flow exhaust, I guess.

You are right, I am not in for chip. I am quiet satisfied with the performance, and more power will mean that I will drive with a heavier foot, which means more gas and more speeding tickets, which means increased insurance. I may not be the one for speed, but I will definitely get the K04s.

On the other note, I have decided to get rid of my K&N. You might want to read this lengthy but well argued post.

I read a lot about not getting a K&N on this forum, a few people stated not putting a lot of oil on there filter. I almost have none on mines, they said that the oil mess up the air flow senor, the K&N makes the oil dirty and what not. I checked with a tuner shop before I brought my K&N, basically they said the same thing (watch the oil on the filter). I use to have a 99 Infiniti I30 and my brother had a 99 Mazda Millennia S (Supercharged), we both had the cone K&N filters and never had any problems, they made the cars sound meaner. I'm thinking about putting the cone on the A6 http://forums.audiworld.com/a4/msgs/783001.phtml

I'm like you, I'm satisfied with the performance, but I'm kinda getting tempted because of the other tuner car on the street.

Abbot, honestly, after getting the K&N replacement for stock, I didn't felt any difference in the performance. The cone ones are not available for C5, I checked it on their site. Unless, there needs a modification  to accomodate that.

Again, not trying to change your mind, but there is a question I ask myself...what will I get after adding chip on my car? Increased expenses and speeding tickets?? I drive 50 miles commute to my work, and in fact today, I saw a Porche Carrera speeding 70-75 on I270 South, which passed me, and in 5 minutes I saw a state trooper pulled him aside in an umarked dark blue car. He must have got $500 ticket. My point is, where will you drive the tuned car? I will feel very frustrated if I have additional 75hp in my car that costs me couple of grands, and I am unable to use it. Hell, I sometimes gets frustrated now, as at the most I go upto 90m. Couple of weeks back, I touched 110+..you know what that means? If I would have got caught, I would have been in someplace else. Thats what happenes if you drive 40m more than limit.

Btw, I know you are in Maryland too, so if you see a Dark Blue Malibu, be careful. The no. is 138. I have seen this guy almost everyday on I270 for about a month! :)

Man, on 695, I saw a beat up Ford Ranger, cab and all that.....he was under cover, so I feel you on wasting your money for 70hp and cant use it, that money can be spent on something else. It was just a thought. What do you have done to your car?

See signature for mods.  I enjoy the extra "pull" of the chipped car.  It is noticeable, especially if you have to pull out and pass on a 2-lane.   Plus it removes the governor - I've had my car to 145-150 (tough to tell, the speedo was bouncing a little).  At least Michigan highways are 70mph which means driving at 77 is "legal".

Abbot, I am planning to get Pioneer Avic-D3 navigation. I am sick of thid RNS-D crap. Takes like 15 minutes to enter destination address. I don't get it..why do Europeans gets better options and accessories? Why not RNS-E for North American buyers?? I know RNS-E is available on ebay and navplus.us, but I will try to Avic-D3.

Let me know if you are in FaceBook. I will share my pics there.

ppgoal, you are lucky man. On the beltway, we have 55m limit on some parts of the highway.

I fount computers that you can install into your car (Windows XP) with flip out touch screen monitors. I was gonna use that for my Navi (Mapquest) and my ipod hook up. I work in the IT help desk at my job so I'm into computers. The computer has 2 models, with and with out a AM/FM tuner. I'm going to get the one without the tuner and buy an Alpine head unit to fill up the extra space that will be below the monitor. I'm into that kind of stuff more so then mods and tuning, so thats where my chip money will go.

Hey Abbot
to your first questions, there are lots of mods to do, here's what I have on mine and I am not even stage 3 yet...
Blue A6 2.7T Quattro - Stage 2 +:
APR 93+faulteraser/TBA, VAST Piggies, APR Dual Catback, APR DV's, APR BiPipe, APR Snub Mount Blue SAMCO Kit, TIP Recode 01032, NewSouth Power Gaskets
KONI Yellow Shocks w/ H&R Springs, H-Sport Sway Bars - 19" BBS RS-GT Diamond Black+245 Khumos SPT - Brembo Rotors and SS Brake lines
RS6 Lip Spoiler, S6 Door Blades, Debadged, Front Chrome Grille, Tint

So as you can see, I ahve S brake lines, and I love them, it is an affordable mod which with good pads will significantly improve braking, especially on a mountain ride or on th etrack..anytime you might experience a spongy brake pedal, fade...
When modding don't just focus on HP/performance gain, what goes fast must stop shorter and handle better too.
The chip is obviously a favorite, after that those are my favorites:
VAST Piggy Pipes (VAST)
H-Sport Sway bars (Purems)
SS Brake Lines (ECS Tuning)
TIP Recode (free)
Upgraded DV's and TB Boot is of course a must

Hey Neversummer,

If you search back a couple months in the magazine of eurotuner, they have a great s4 2.7t tuning guide.

It goes over a ton of parts, within different price ranges, its worth checking out.

I am guessing it is a 350+ hp and therefore 260-290WHP depending on power loss considered… everyone uses different #s it seems from 15 up to 25%. I think our cars lose 20+.
Anyone knows for sure?

Like gigi said, downpipes are the most bang for the buck besides the chip for the 2.7T engine.
In combo with the chip you could gain an extra 30 to 40 horses.
To answer gigi's question about drivetrain loss, if on an automatic transmission with all stock drivetrain its about a 25% loss of power to the wheels.
The percentage gets less and less the lighter parts get in the drivetrain, like a light weight flywheel, which isn't an option for you.
