Default New to AF with 1998 A4 Avant

I just baught a 1998 A4 Avant 2.8L Quattro over the weekend! So far I'm liking it a lot, huge upgrade from the 1994 Oldsmobile eighty-eight that I was rolling in... I had been keeping an eye on craiglist for a deal on a sportwagon, like Audi / Subaru / Mazda. And this car came up and it looked like a good deal so I jumped on it kind of impulsively. Here's some pictures and details:

http://picasaweb.google.com/kendalll...ey=8vyBdAOMjwU

177k miles
2.8L (didn't want a high mileage turbo anyhow - wasn't planning on doing mods)
tiptronic ( rebuilt 2/07 still has a few months and 5k miles on the waranty, local shop not a dealer rebuild)
newish tires, brakes, and rotors 01/07
recent oil change
registration paid for the year
some dents and scratches
broken center armrest
small crack in windshield
interior in decent shape but dog hair all over (not as clean as it looks in my pictures)

paid $4200, how did i do?

Into British cars with a Triumph TR6 that I've had for a long time. But I haven't ever been able to get excited about my daily driver until now (used to have a pontiac 6000 in college, then an oldsmobile beater commuter)

Looking forward to learning lots on AF!

Welcome to AF kendalll.

In my opinion for that high mileage, the price is a little steep (just a little) . But again, it's also because the state you live in.

Based on the pictures, your car is looking pretty clean inside and out except for that dent in the front/hood section. Should've deducted the car price for that so you can get it fixed!

Anyway, congratulations on the purchase and keep us updated.

ya I'm not the worlds best negotiator...

The guy was selling it because he just got married and his wife wanted him to sell it. He gets her old Honda, and she gets a new car.... yay marriage! I sorta felt bad for him, as he waited to watch me pull away.

welcome, and that sucks for that guy. if or when I get married I'm for sure keeping any cars I might own at the time (hopefully a URquattro and another A4 or S4(if the 12v dies))

also the triumph looks really nice.
