Default Tire recomendations

I have to replace the tires on my Chevy Lumuna LTZ, and Dunlop has discontinued the SP Sport A2 plus line. I want a tire with UTOG codes of 400 treadware AA traction and A temp.

I have narrowed it to ContiProContacts or Yokahama AVID. Does any one have any experience with these brands or any other suggestions?

Thanks.

Flip - do you currently have Yokohama's? how many miles? what type of weather?

AWD - u rollin the Falken's on the A8? How do they do? I know u experience some winter type of weather around DC. I have been looking at the tire rack for their survey results. I'm gonna check up on the Falken.

I have YokohamaAVS Sportsand I love them. They have about 5,000 miles on them and the tread is still great. I haven't used them in snow but they are good in rain and awesome in dry weather.

yep, Falk's on teh 8. The winter's around here aren't that bad, but I travel up to Detroit, several times a year, and the A+S Falkens to GREAT in rain & light (up to about 4-6") snow, with teh AWD. Ran them on my camry, too, when I had it, with similiar performance. Thing I like is, even when it isn't raining or snowing, I've still got a V-rating. Most pure snow gummi's are H-rated, so I get goodness wet or dry. Two tyhings you need to know... 1) You generally hafta run them 6-10lbs over manufacturer's recommended pressure, or they feel squirrely. 2) They dont last long; about 18months IF you rotate them regularly, 12 if you don't.

I really dont put that many miles on the car. Maybe 5-6 thousand a year and my days of pushin the cars limits are over. the popo dont give any slack anymore, not like the old days. Just want/need a tire that can handel the NYC weather and be safe with the family in the car.

My Falken's handle 95% of teh weather tha Michigan can throw at them (with teh aid of AWD, of course). Until I can no longer find Falkens, or someone manages to convincce me that something else works as good, or better, and last as long, or better, at a similiar price, I'm'll stick with my Falkens. FTR, I cover 35K-40k miles/year, on a regular...
