Electronic Stabilization Program the ESP should always be on however it may be advantageous to turn off the system in certain special cases whenwheele slipage is desired...........when driving in deep snow or on a loose surface....whenn trying to ..rock out.. the vehicle when it becomes stuck..........FROM THE BOOK......

You should have the owners manuel for quick referenceand it should always be in the vehicle...I have to say though weather your mechanically enclined or not the Audi service manual sold by Bentley Publishers is worth its weight in gold,,,,,Their are so many systems in these carsand some prety knowelagible people on this forum..
If we are able to ask intelegent questions ( thats where the book comes in ) we will get intelegant answears back...

If you just bought your Audi, and you were looking in the glove box for the manual...it's not there. Audi tucks their manuals into a slot under the steering wheel. That's where I found mine....after I bought another set!
