girl needs help with stereo
My 92 100 Q with bose system was making an annoying sizzling sound on one side of the car. When I took the car in to be looked at, I was told the amp was bad and that I had to redo the entire system. I was able to find a matching amp on ebay which I just installed tonight. The sizzling sound appears to be gone but there is no sound coming from the front right speaker. I do hear a slight hiss from there tho so it would seem the speaker is at least getting power? I checked all connections to the amp and the seem to be good, theyre all snapins. If anybody could offer me a clue as to what might be wrong now, I'd appreciate it. Does it sound like the speaker is bad? If so Im sure I could grab one off ebay or at a junk yard.
Thanks Again;) jaime |

does the noise get louder when you rev the engine?

RE: girl needs help with stereo
The sound doesnt get louder as I rev the engine.
Funnily tho, today the sizzling sound returned out of the same speaker when i started the car, but it didnt last long. Then I noticed that the speaker is working today, so maye the speaker is faulty, or has a loose wire or something? If it was broken, would that explain it sizzling and working only sometimes? thanks again for your help:) jaime |
RE: girl needs help with stereo
I am an experienced audio installer and I can tell you from my experiences from working on those cars is that the problem lies within the radio and the amps. We see a bunch of those systems fail after about 10-12 yrs. The only thing that you can do really is to replace the factory radio with an aftermarket, rewire around the individual amps, and replace those little 5 1/4" speaker with something decent. I know it sucks, but that is all that you can really do. Good luck! Those cars are a real bitch to work on!
Hope this helps -Houndz |
