Default 08 A3 - "stuck" CD - how to reset or manual eject?

Irony -

I picked up my 08' A3 from the dealer yesterday { 5k service } put in a cd { didn't bring my ipod } and drove home. Playing the disk just fine...

Later - I got in the car - turned on the radio / cd player and it quit playing the cd. Tried to eject the cd and I get " cd error ... service " No odd noises, nothing - just the error message.

I can switch between fm/am which works fine, but if I press 'CD' it does not play & I after a few seconds I get the " cd error ... service " display.

Is there any way to 'reset' the radio { it's the basic Symphony unit / w/audi iPod adapter / no Sat.radio / no Nav. } that I should try before I have to hassle with taking it to the dealer? Is there a manual cd eject on the unit that I'm unaware of?

It is - of note - a home burned audio disk, but I've never had a problem with them before.

* Yes it's under warranty - but if I can reset it myself in a few minutes...

thanks -

You can try pulling the fuse and putting it back in. You can also pull the radio out and disconnect all the connectors on the back which will reset the radio. If that doesnt work youll need a new radio.

Think I'll try the fuse...

Also interesting note - I found another vw forum where someone suggested partially inserting a second disk 1/3 of the way in - hit the eject button and use it to 'guide' the disk out. { apparently some of the systems have disk-eject alighment issues with the thicker "home burned" cd media }

Since it's under warranty - if the fuse / reset trick dosen't work - I really dont feel any urge to pull apart the system... not when I can get someone else to do it and have the parent company / ie. Audi / pay for it. { & rightfully so }

thanks -

Sticking a disk into the 6 disk changer and hitting eject can cause the changer toshuffle and break off part of the "jimmy" disk in the player. That trick works good on most all model single disk changers thou.

Thanks... good point to those with multi-disk systems.

I've got the single disk player - we'll see if it works...
