Hey All,

Just got myself a 97 A4, V6, 5speed 137k. Super clean, seems to run like a champ. We will see how Chad Proof the car is......ha ha ha ha ha. The car did not come with a owners manual, Im looking on ebay right now for one, anyway.........the car seems to have only two little bugs, Im sure the thermostat is stuck open (a new one was ordered and on its way), and on the HUD where it usally gives your MPG, it was working just fine for the first two days and now there is a small o with a slash through it and it says 25MPH? Can only one explain the 25MPH thing?

Hey,jeepguy88, welcome to the world of Audis.. sounds like you found a good ride.
I don't have the A4, but my '01 A6 has an information display, and the "o" with the slash
through it means average, so average MPH. Look for a button on wiper stalk, this will let
you toogle thru several different readings. And I also found my owner's manual on Flea-Bay.

I found it. I would have never thought to look at the end of the wiper stalk. Yeah the Audi is a pretty sweet ride. The thermostat needs to be replaced, ours came in but they parts shop was not able to find the rubber o-ring. What are the chances I will be able to reuse the old one?

What kind of gas milage are ya'all getting?
Are these suppose to come with keyless remote? Seems like such a fancy car would, and we dont have one.

For O-ring for t-stat, it's Not worth it to reuse old one, could cause coolant leaking down the road, and then it's more expensive.

Your A4 is similar to my '95 90, 2.8 but no quattro. I can get 30-31mpg if I keep it at 65mph or lower, that's with 5 sp and over 167k miles.

check the specs for your car here, http://www.audiworld.com/model/a4/, seems with the sun roof option you get remote key.

Ok Thanks for the info. The specs page says Im suppose to be getting 22ish and thats about what I get. Whats the best way to go about getting a replacement remote?

PS. I just took about a 250 mile round trip in the Audi and I just coulnd't help but cruise at like 80ish+ the whole time. Amazing car!

Try e-Bay, but make sure it is for your model.
