A4 2.8 Airbag Light

My airbag light came on after a friend and i were driving. We switched drivers and in the process moved the seat from one extreme to the other. Thats when the airbag light came on. I was wondering if anyone knew where this cable is under the seat. There seems to be a few of them under there. Can anyone lead me to the airbag wire?

Just did this on Sunday. Tip the seat all the way back (the seat cushion, not the backrest), then slide it all the way back. Look under the front of the seat and you'll see three harnesses plugged in - the one closest to the center of the car is smaller than the other two, and yellow. That's your airbag connector (by law, airbag connectors HAVE to be yellow for ease of identification). It's kind of a pain to zip-tie, but you can do it. Ask hiwords - he was laughing at me for about 10 minutes while I tried to thread a zip-tie in there without pinching a wire lol. Once I did it, I pulled it as tight as I could, then we cleared the bag light and it hasn't come back. Here's a pic I went out and took of mine - this is directly under the front of the seat (you can see the one I zip-tied to fix the fault light):

Just bypass the connector under the seat. This is a common repair on the b6 a4 seat airbag. There is a TSB. Do not bypass the connector on the floor of the car bypass the one connected to the seat bottom. Then of course clear the code.

How does that work out? My code said the resistance was too high (ie, open). When you say bypass it, are you saying to remove the connector and just hardwire that connection? Or are you jumpering the wires somewhere else? I'm curious about this - I have a B5, but even so, I'd love to eliminate the potential for another issue with this.

Thanks for the photos upstate. Haven't done it yet but thats perfect. Bypass sounds sketchy

No problem bud, glad it helps. The bypass, if it's how I was asking above (removing the connector and hardwiring) would probably be fine, but otherwise I'm not really sure about it.

Some unplug it and spray some electrical stuff on there, plug it back in and secure it.

I just zip-tied the thing. My light came on when I put the seat all the way back while detailing one day, so I knew I stretched the connection too far. By holding it tighter it would keep the light from tripping again, so I zipped it, turned off the light, and that was it.
