I found out I have a crack in my windshield washer resevoir! When I put fluid in it, it comes right out!! Has anyone ever changed theres before or should I have a professional do it? Also since I got my A6 when I use the windshield spayers to wash my windshield it hits the hood and only goes up like 6 inches on the windshield!! Anyone know how to adjust that or could it be doing that due to the resevoir?(not building enough pressure) Thanks!!

ha I had the same problem...... I had a crack in mine... but then some girl driving a crappy jetta backed up right into the front driver side of my car, and completely ruined the tank. Luckily the insurence company replaced the tank. But now my windshield squirts don't work at all.... I have checked all the hoses and everything.. I have no idea why it wouldn't work. So if you get any answers I would like to hear how you fixed it.

I found that I had a crack in the connection the tube holding the pump (?) and the windshield washer tank together. I was a pain to get to and I fixed it with duct tape for now. Depending on how handy you are you can probably take it apart and diagnose the problem (tank or pump tube crack) and order the parts needed.

That's the cheapest I've seen them for!! Bimmerspecialist.com has them for $87!

The system is simplistic.

1. A tank
2. A pump
3. Hoses
4. Squirters
5. One sensor for low fluid.

Check the tank for cracks, makes sure the pump is working, make sure the hoses arent clogged. If so, dip the squirters in CLR cleaner to get out the deposits and buildup. Replace cracked hoses. If this doenst fix it, you know the pump is bad or the tank is cracked.

Had a similar problem and turned out that the pump housing had the crack, not the fluid reservoir as I had initially thought. Parts were only US$46.44 for the pump and US$7.32 for a support bracket. I had the dealer do the repair, however and that added US$142.50 in labor.

My A6 has a crack in the reservoir as well. I literally watched the fluid come right out the bottom of the tank. Made me sad to watch my little buddy bleed.

Yeah it sucks!! I might as well just dump the washer fluid straight on the groung!!

Use a small straight pin to adjust the windshield nozzels. Stick the pin in the hole and aim them in the direction you want the fluid to go. A small change in direction will make a big change in where the fluid goes.

It is easy to adjust them to wash the windshield of the guy following you!

We did that when we were in high school. On the old rigs you just bent the whole metal tab up. Then we would fill the resevoir with used motor oil. Yes, that is totally stupid and irresponsible but when I was 16 it was funny. Also knew a guy in college that spliced the line (hose) and routed it through the firewall to dump just under the drivers side dash. He would fill the resevoir with vodka and juice. Needless to say he was obviously a dumbs**t, but I admire the creativity.
