View Full Version : New Front Grill for my A6
formulagigi 12-01-2007, 04:03 PM Hey guys, so one more mod on the way. I got me a Xmas present... a new all black badegelss front grille... I like the all blacked out no ring look, makes the front of our cars a little more agggressive/sporty looking. Cost is $79, should have it soon. Will post pics and feedback on the vendor www.dubstop.com (http://www.dubstop.com), which I have never used before. ECS Tuning only had the grille (Same and same manufacturer) for the pre-facelift models <=01.
Here's the grillle, simple, clean, no badge and all black!

Next I need to repaint my lower grilles and get all the chrome trim around the door/windows, front lower center grill, headlight... all blacked out!
Now i am going to sell my current grill with the AUDI chrome inserts if someone is interested. [Stock grille plus $110 inserts.]
Make an offer. make an offer..
BTW i also have stock sways, springs, exhaust, blades... and I might sell my RSGT's at the right price!
MiniSpdRcr 12-01-2007, 06:15 PM I like it, I might just pick one up as well :)
formulagigi 12-01-2007, 08:05 PM go for it, they have C4's, and C5 pre face lift too
AZAudiA6Q 12-03-2007, 02:27 PM Looks sick, but I must admit, I like my 4 r ings.
DjDiddles 12-03-2007, 03:32 PM That looks really clean!!!! I've been wanting to pick one up for a while!! The only ones I've seen were the mesh ones on ebay or really expensive ones!! This one looks bettier then all or those and decent price!!!
krelly 12-03-2007, 06:23 PM Very nice man, i like it a lot. Be sure to post how your install goes, im curious how hard it will be, or easy?
formulagigi 12-03-2007, 07:11 PM Sure... hopefully easy... just minutes:)
formulagigi 12-03-2007, 07:11 PM it'll also look betetr no my car as it is dark,
Anyone wants a beautiful chrome grill? :)
formulagigi 12-11-2007, 12:16 AM so here's some initial feedback...I got email notification of order and shipment tracking info anf delivery..... The grill arrived within a week or so of order. Very serious company apparently. I have not yet installed it but put it over the stock one to make sure it was the right model and would fit.. Looks good. Can't wait to install it.
But have not had time and have not even driven th ecar in over a week as I started driving the train. So more to come on install and pics. Cheers
Brice

MadRiverDave 12-12-2007, 10:03 AM Looks slick - wish I could replace lower grills and bumper on my C5 audi A6 with the recalled, but never cured, front bumper that falls off when you reverse in mud or snow!

dmrdennie 01-06-2008, 02:40 PM I kinda like the 4 rings too. Has anyone seem a blacked out grill with rings ?

next step clear corners ?
First I will put on my Euro plate, it is on its way, I got the Tracking email yesterday.
Then I will do the clear corners if i can find an easier way to do it than removing all the crap to get the headlights out on the write up I saw on AW. Not up for that. I might smoke the forn headlights just a bit to get a better match with the grill and plate... Like the Jetta on the pics below. I am uploading them now.
I am definitely going to smoke the tail lights though ;)

Yeap saw one, it is my goal but am not sure hot to get to that. Just saw a pic.
But this front grill was affordable and a easy mod. You could try and smoke the rings and ege of a stock grill I guess.
formulagigi 01-06-2008, 09:46 PM Ok here are better pics taken in the daylight! Notices the stockies are on :) Wheels really make a car!!

Jeffla 01-06-2008, 09:57 PM If I can make a suggestion, remove the chrome from the lower grill. Otherwise I really like the look.
formulagigi 01-06-2008, 10:49 PM Yup, that is the plan! Actually I want all the chrome on the car gone! :)
formulagigi 01-06-2008, 11:08 PM Install is about 15 minutes, clips on stock grille were a little hard, and all those plastic clips are easy to break so I had to use strength but very carefully to remove the stock grille. It made it out ok, as long as I ahe all gthe 4 upper and 2 side clips set and pushed out a bit. OEM grill is of good quality and much heavier than the replacement one. Grille comes out toward the front and upward.
Putting the grill in and getting the hood ltach on was abit tricker, it took a lot of pushing and adjusting to get the lowe clips situated right beofre I push on the top and side to snap it in. It is not that bad though.
Jeffla 01-06-2008, 11:10 PM Should have read your 1st post more carefully. Thought it seemed stange you were leaving the lower grill chrome. I like the look so much I think I might get a new grill for my A6.
