Default Radio code

I want to re install the stock radio. I know there is a security code to get the radio off SAFE mode.
Where is the code located? Is it on the radio anywhere? In the car somewhere? I would like to avoid having to go to the
dealer.
Also, will I need to do anything special to hook up the OEM CD changer?

Default RE: Radio code

Did you buy car used or new? I bought new and the code was on a card that came with the manual.

Default RE: Radio code

If you bought used lots of people write teh code somewhere in their owners manuals. Other than that, your only option is to take it to your local stealership and have them download it for you (they hook your car up to their 'puter and it downloads your radios code from the Audi Batcave in Stuttgart). Takes about 15-20 minutes, and 35-70 bones, depending on your stealer...

The code can often be found in the trunk on a little sticker in the wheel well.

I have a 96 a6 wagon, would the code be located in one of the well storage areas in the back. One side, passenger, has the sub woofer and washer fluid resivoir, the otherside, driver side is mostly empty. That is where the plug is for the cd changer.

Default RE: Radio code

Spoke to original dealer that sold my car. I was informed that the only place the radio code is located is the owners manual. I mentioned the wheel well, spare tire well and was told that is incorrect. Basically , he said I would need to go to a dealer with the radio.
I am going to check the places mentioned here anyway.
