Default Manual Transmission

What is the basic concept behind the Manual transmission.. This is one of my weak points when it comes to engine knowledge.. Pictures are not necessary I know the main parts. Its more understanding the concept that flukes me.. Thanks!

Pretty broad question. What dont you understand? How the clucht disengages engine power from the trans for shifting purposes? How the sychros operate to match trans speed to engine speed? If describe what you already understand and what you dont we may be able to help you more understand the operation of the manual trans.
