Default hood cable broken

I have an A4 1.8 quattro 2002. Recently the the hood cable has broken. It broke from under the hood so i cannot use pliers to open it from the latch area. Does anyone know how to manually pop the hood? And does anyone know an estimate on how much something like this would be to fix? Thank you.

Default RE: hood cable broken

i'm not too familiar with the way that car is set up, but see if you can pull the grill, which will expose the latch assembly. Other possible options are removing the headlights via the adjusment screws, or trying to follow the cable to the point at whcih it broke at pull it with some pliers(you said it broke under the hood, so this might now be available. I did a whole bunch of these at the shop i worked at for a few yearsa cable will probably run you about 25 dollars, plus whatever the shop charges you for labor. Figure somewhere around 35-40 This is just a rough estimate though.
