I’m looking at getting these for my '01 A6 2.7T..........

http://www.audipartssuperstore.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=154

Should I also get the rear ones? Was just going to get front. I have the RS rims on my A6 and they are much wider, which is the reason for so much kick-up from the road. Its winter now and there’s lots of gravel. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Or even somewhere I can find them cheaper.

Also...funny story. I’ve had my Audi for about a month now and got my first ticket this morning. Was clocked at 85 in a 55....although I did not realize I was going that fast or that the speed limit dropped to 55 there. I used to drive a '90 Honda accord. Which was what? 120 hp? And I'm now up to 330hp. Even though the cop cut me a brake and wrote me a ticket for 75 in a 55, I was thinking about taking it to court anyway...maybe he wont show up, would that be really mean?

They can help keep the stone dings off the sides of your car when you have wide tires. I once sandblasted the edges and sides of the fenders of a car in a few thousand miles when I put wide tires on it.

Which is uglier? sanblasted or flaps?

Your choice!

Well. I was thinking i could take them off for the summer. Id buy plastic plugs the size of the holes i drill and coat with sillicone until the next winter. I agree they look "fugly" but so does chipped paint. I have a '93 VW Corrado as my fair weather car. I put bigger wheels on it and had to paint it in 2 years. Now it sits in a warm garage all winter so i dont have to worry about that, but i know how fast it can ruin paint. Even good coats of wax won't protect from that much punishment.

I'm certain the rear bumper is plastic so rust wont be a problem there.

If you want mub flaps and think there're a good idea, then why care what other people think about them. I like them personally, after it rains, you won't have a lot of muddy water stains down there by the wheels...... some STI's have mud flaps that say STI on them.

You have to remember, if it's not "The Normal", then people will always have something negative to say about it, but at the end of the day, it was your money that brought it.

My thoughts- I have an '07 A6 with the 18" wheels, and I'm also getting alot of sprayback along the sides of the car. I looked at Audi's mud flap offerings and wasn't too impressed- they're fugly alright. I'm guessing that mud flaps aren't all that popular on European cars to begin with- they're pretty American looking if you ask me. I was going to look around to see if the aftermarket might offer something a little more appealing.

Where I live, if you go to court, the officer can amend the ticket to the original speed.  There goes your break(brake).

hey, well my opinion, i think mud flaps are sexy, especially if you have 18's on , it adds more body to the car, and protection, as long as you put the origional full bodied ones on , mine looks great and compliments the 18's. and from where im from, audis dont rust, well at least nothing from a 90 model upwards.

I say if you like them, go for it

Im personally not a big fan.. but it would be nice to know that winter weather wasnt going to completely mess up my paint

Really? The cop can change it back to the original?! That’s not good. I live in Pennsylvania. It was a stat cop. I will have to check on that, because that would be bad. I usually just go to court for every ticket no matter how guilty i was. Although he did make a point at the bottom about my "actual speed" .... i should probably let this one slide.

I do have the 18' RS rims on mine. What are these original full bodied ones you're talking about? Could be a good option rather then taking ones off and on every winter.

Brake <--> Break ... I saw that, but was too late to fix.

in saying full bodied, i mean the origional ones, not those cheap aftermarket ones you buy at any spares shop.

Just fitted (genuine Audi) front mudflaps to my allroad, and they look good and do the business!

As I live in a country area, there is a lot of mud etc on the roads in winter, grit was finding it's way just under the door.  The flaps have eliminated this problem, and much reduced any dirt throwback along the underside of the car.
Still wondering about fitting the rear ones.

Post a pic sometime!  I'd love to see how they look on the AR... been considering doing the same.

I have them on my A6 from new. They are the stock OEM moulded ones and look great. They fill out the arches nicely and are in proprtion too. Look good and do a great job of keeping the paintwork in great shape front n rear

Go to court. Tell them you never saw the sign, but you were passing a semi, so you could have missed it. The judge may give you a break on the points. He is, after all, an elected official!
