Default Bluetooth and SonyEricsson w960i (Symbian phone)

Hi there

(my 1st post here)

I have an 2007 Audi A3 with the BIS 5.0 nav and the 9ZU bluetooth phone package. With my current phone (SonyEricsson W700i) everything works fine; I can pick names from my addressbook via the controls on the steering wheel, etc.

I want a new phone: the SonyEricsson w960i. This is Symbian based. I have not heard good things about getting symbian phones to work with the audi bluetooth connection. Some people report that you can not read out your address book?

Since the w960i is new, it's not listed in the audi PDF with compatible phones.

Does anyone has experience with this, or other symbian phones?

Regards,
Onno
The Netherlands

p.s. I hope the specs of the bluetooth kit and w960i are the same in the US and Europe

I have a Nokia E70 with Symbian and the car doesn't pick up on any address book info I have. As far as I know, you can program it in manually but I haven't had the time (or patience) to do that. The only real function is dialing and answering calls, though you can voice command numbers to work.

Thx for your reply!

Audi just released a new list with compatible phones and the SonyEricsson P1i was in it. This phone is very similar to the w960i I wanted so I went ahead and bought it. Even though its' Symbian, everything works fine. Full access to the address book, etc.

I later heard that Nokia prevents access to the address book via Bluetooth (as a security pre-caution). Don't know if you can disable that, so good luck!

Regards,
Onno

By the way: the address book on the car shows everything <lastname>,<firstname>. Wish I could change that!
