Default '03 A4 check engine light (code P0171)

I Hope someone out there can help me....

I have a fantastic 1.8t A4 with 77k miles on it. I love the car! Its the best vehicle i have ever owned!

Yesterday the check engine light came on... i followed some advice from other posts on the forum and took it to Auto Zone.

They tested the car and said it was a code P0171, Bank 1, Sensor 1, System 2 Lean.

The guy said he thought it would be the o2 sensor... Is this the case? Should i take it to the dealer? Where is the o2 sensor? Can i change the part myself easily? (I have seen bosch o2 sensors online for $70, but they say to use origional plugs?)

Any help you can give will be greatly appreciated!

O2 failures on that engine are pretty rare. More likly you have a vacuum leak or a bad maf.
