Default Audi Engine Codes

Hey guys! i'm new to the forums and new to the world of audi, I just purchased my first audi a week ago, I picked up a 1998 Audi a4 Quattro 2.8 with 120,000 miles for 2,500 bucks. Catch is it has a few problems, but personally i like to buy project cars. Now i'm working on getting it on the road. I have a problem with the tranny, it will go into drive but doesn't shift into reverse, i'm looking into buying a used tranny, but i also read the engine codes and it came up code P1818 Manufacter transmission control. I dunno if this would have any effect on how the tranny would act anyone have any ideas? thanks in advance

Sounds like the trans is in limp mode. It may just be a problem with the trans control module, the wiringor the valvebody. You need to scan the trans control module and see what faults you have there.
