I'm trying to get the chrome piece out so I can get the plastic plate that's under itout (Tip trans), but I'm not having any luck.

I found a write-up by Brrman, but it's not helping much.

Has anyone ever done this before?? Is there anything I'm doing wrong??

I'm trying to do something like this (http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php?t=173248), as mine has become a little dirty / torn up throughout time from the previous owner(s).

Any advice is appreciated.
