Default Car Wont start - No Power

PLeease help!! I have a 2000 a4, lately it used to just cut off (Stop) and the epc and the battery light often appears. This morning, everything seems to be off, I have to manually open the car, and it just wont start. Only the Air bag and the ABS lights come on everyhthing else is dead not even the radio. I have no idea what is going on!! My concern is alsothe safety of the car, anyone can just open it right? as the immobiliser is off (that little red light that often flashes)....? Could this have anything to do with the battery or something?

PS: When responding please use layman's terms. I no nothing about cars except to drive it!

Many thanks!!

Poe

Oddly enough this sounds like what had happened to me. The other day I got in the car and it was dead. I thought I may have left a light on or something and ran the battery out but when we went to jump start it the connector to the battery was lose and needed to be tightened. Pop open your hood and check to make sure the connector is on there....

Hope that helps...
