Hi,

I recently bought a 2nd hand Audit A6 3.0 Quatro s-line with 94000 kms on the counter. It was well taken care of and I am very happy with this dreamcar.
A month ago I had the brakes replaced and put the winter tyres on. Now there are 99000 kms on the counter and last week the car started to make a terrible noise near its front wheels when driving on cobble stone or taking a turn. At some point it sounded even like a bolt was turning around loose in the front left wheel.

Now my garage tells me the cardan spill of one of the front wheels is used and must be replaced. Not being an expert, nor a car mechanic I was wondering whether this is normal after 99000 kms or whether this could be related to the replacement of the brakes/tires. When I got the car back the tyres made much more noise which I blaimed on the fact they were as good as new winter tires. But now I start to wonder whether there wasn't anything wrong then already. Since i've driven another 4000 kms, incl in the mountains, and didn't notice anything special.... until last week.

Any advice on how this can happen, if I should worry or whether this could indeed be caused by the work done when replacing the tyres/brakes is much appreciated.
