Default Custom Intake by audiboy1618

Thanks To audiboy1618 For This Article!

Ok, guys, Audis intakes have been almost worthless except for the sound till now. I have been thinking of doing this for awhile now and i wish i had done it sooner. I had no idea i would notice this much of a difference, and for those of who that want the sound too, this will do it for you.Heres somethings that are needed and make things easier.

1. Highflow panel fitler(optional, stock will work, but better gains with k&n)
2. Cutting device, I used a makita grinder, which works well. Anything that will cut up the airbox.
3. Saftey stuff, Im serious, the airbox is made of some werid stuff and you will be doing alot of cutting with stuff flying everything. A long sleeve shirt and eye protection.
4. Basic handtools to take out the airbox, If you dont know how to take out your aixbox, then dont try this.

Ok,

1. Take your airbox out of your car.
2. Next, your going to want to mount it to something, i used a vice so i could see 360degrees around it.
3.Now you want to look where you want to cut, basically, i cut in 3places, where there wasnt anything on the other side to hurt. Heres a pic of mine,

you can see where i cut, its kind of hard to explain. But the big whole you are looking at is facing the turbo in the car, and coverd by the heatsheild. When u look at yours you will know exactly what i mean. Then i picked 2 other places and cut 2 small wholes, about the size of a cell phone,, pick places that dont have anything behind them so u dont ruin anything. Take your time, dont cut to much at once, cut for a while and then stop and look. I know this sounds confusing, but when u look at it you will understand. Look of mine to get the big whole, its the main one.
4. Clean up, clean out your airbox, get all the shavings out of it.
5. Reinstall airbox, and go for a drive.
