Howdy Folks,

I'm new to Audi but I fell in love with the S5. I'm on my 2nd infiniti FX(great car). But the S5 is something special.

I test drove one yesterday and it was amazing. I know there are faster cars out there for that kind of money but hardly anything with it's beauty, abilities and refinement. It was raining and it was rock solid. The interior was superb.

The dealer took my money and ordered the car form Germany. The salesmen said they are WAY backordered. Decent guy, and truthful. He said it could take up to November to get here. My question is thus., Is he just covering his bases to be safe or is it really gonna take that long. If so why? Does that sound right to you guys?

Thanks for your thoughts and input. I look forward to being a good member of this forum.

That means by the time I can afford one, hopefully the demand will be caught up.

Thanks guys, I'm already going nuts thinking about the car and the wait.

Any dealer people outhere who read this? Perhaps you can shed some light on the wait time.

Thanks,

Did ya'll hear the rumor about a RS-5 yikes. twin turbo 4.2L V8. What a monster that would be.

Guys, the dealer called me today and said they got in a regular A5. I declined, he said the main two issues for slow delivery is Europe comes first and the demand for the 4.2L V8. Sigh.

Good choice declining. Much better to wait for exactly what you want.

What color did you order?  The dealer where I picked up my cars had a white one and a blue one and they were both awesome to look at and to hear!! I think they were both sold as soon as they hit lot...I know one was tested and sold while I was waiting for a 10k maintenance.

Mmmm... S5, pimptastic.

You'll probably wait the full time. I haven't heard a single negative thing about the S5 yet. Do NOT settle for the A5 if you've already ordered the S5. Once more people see them on the road, sales may only increase.

Yea they are backordered, but there is one sitting here in Ontario inthe dealer basement ready for pick up, but the guy doesn't want to take delivery until the snow is gone.

oh man thats a shame, you have to wait till November in USA??im in Europe and will have new audi a5 3.0 tdi in 2 weeks, ordered it a week ago, coming from Germany.the guy who told u to go on mobile.de has a point,i dont know the costs of shipping a car over to USA,but i got mine from the same page, cant wait to drive it.i will post pics and video as soon as mine adrenaline calms down to be able to shoot photos and make that video hehe.but anyway i think an s5 is one of the prettiest cars there is to buy,a great 4.2l engine from rs4,noise it makes, seats, omg really wonderful.ive read somewhere that you guys in USA dont get this 3.0 tdi,but it is a shame,it is one of the greatest diesel engines ever built in an road car, beats 3.2 fsi in just about every segment.and my greetings to all of you audi fans out there, and Marko Tomas if you read this, pozdrav veliki iz Zagreba, nedaj se tamo preko bare hehe i ocekujem da te svi vidimo na all star vikendu ubrzo hehe

Now slightly jealous

S5 piece of beauty, sat in one at a show i went to a few months back, and the seat position feels perfect, and the general look of the car is perfect.

I got a quote for an A5 today here in germany. Its a dealer off base that caters to military folk. To ship it to the states, it has to be US Spec of course, but I guess I wouldn't mind. The prob is it wouldn't be ready til Sept!! I would like to take her out on the autobahn a few times before we have to go back to the states. If I could afford the S5 I would buy one but its too out of my budget. Right now, my wife and I are trying to decide between the BMW 335xi or an Audi A5. So far, I like the Audi better. I wish they made an audi coupe quattro like my 89 coupe. I love that car and it was my first intro to audis. Enjoy that S5! I only get a glimpse of them on the autobahn here before they speed by me heh. :)

Congratulations!  I ordered my S5 in November, and it is due to arrive some time in April.  The wait times have grown exponentially since then, so I believe your dealer is being honest with you (sorry).  My car is Deep Sea Blue on tuscan with all the electronic gadgetry except side assist (not available at the time I ordered and not really desired anyway).  Keep us up to date on when it is expected to arrive!

Wait times for the A5 are not nearly as long as for the S5.

Me too. Phantom Black I think...

I am coming from a large model, A8 to be exact. What will I miss?

I'm worried. :-)

I got quotes for the S5 and A5. I am leaning toward the S5 more and more. I did have some questions though. How comfy are the front seats in the S5? How does the engine sound? Any cabin noise? Gas cost and insurance are very close between the A5 and S5. I would put in the bit of extra cash to drive an S5 around. The Audis are awesome :)
