Very very sad indeed.

Yeah, but unfortunatly, they most likely didn't claim any of those aftermarket parts on the car on the policy. Insurance will only pay them bluebook value of the car stock.

Not to be a jerk or anything, because I know how upset I would be in this situation, but they should have closed all the doors, sunroof, etc. to try and contain the blaze a little more. At least it would have stayed out of the cabin for a little longer and might not have done as much damage. I want to know what caused this though.

...closing the doors i can understand... but i personally wouldn't have the patience to close the sunroof (sitting there... holding hte button...)

definatly blows though... by the looks of the engine bay, this was one well tuned 1.8T
