gibson36 -> 1990 audi v8 stall and not restart ? (1/28/2008 8:29:11 PM)

Ok, I have a 1990 audi v8 99k miles with a problem the car had a alternatior go out on it about 10 months ago and insted of fixing it I just let it sit in the driveway till last week when i sent it out and had that problem fixed. I went and pick the car up this afternoon and it started right up I drove about 14 miles and it died ? after about 15 mins it started right back up and drove another 2 miles and died again, this time in trafic so I waited about 5 mins or so and again it fired up sounded great and i went to BP filled the tank with 93 oct and it would not start on the first try so i let it sit 2 mins and it fired right up. I then drove the car back to my house and park it after about 2 hours I went out and nothing wont start . jump in my jeep went got food and returned try again and first shot it fires right up so i figure what the heck it just needs to be run so i go for a drive and yet agin it dies this time it refused to restart till the tow truck shows up and now it's on it's way back to the shop . but I have no idia what to tell them to look at on it ? I'm thinking fuel pump ? does this sound right to you guys ? this is the first problem other then the starter and alternatior I have ever had with the car in 10 + years
any help would be great

Your bet bet is to just describe the cars symptoms to the mechs. They should be able to get the car to have the problem again from the sounds of it.

So are you still aving problems?
I had some of the same problems with my 86 CS turbo Wagon, it would start then after a few min.s of running it would stop. I replaced the fuel filter, then it came out that I needed a fuel pump running too low on fuel the fuel pump starte to heat up and then would seize once you stop the car.
I would recomend to check the fuel filter because things have a habit of settling in the bottom then once you start driving the vehicle again all of the sediment goes into the filter.
