So as mentionned in a couple of thread, I have been looking at wheels and a different suspension set up.
I finally sold my 19" BBS RSGT and am now selling my 17" BBS RC, which I recently had redone ($300+)are like new, seriously, they look like they came out of the factory!
Instead of two sets of wheels, 19"s with UHP summer tires and 17's with winter Goodyear UltraGrip3 tires, I decided I would buy one set of affordable clean looking 18's with UHP AS tires. One I needed to raise cash and two I want a better ride for my kids and wife while maintaining a lower than stock look and improved handling... hence the new suspension and wheels.
My new parts arrive this week and early next week so they should be on the car Wednesday... hopefully! :) I am impatient to pick it up from GMP performance next week.
I will be selling my Koni Sport and H&R springs but someone on this forum has first dibs :)!

ANYWAY, here are my new parts/mods...

"When two of the industry's suspension component brands decide to pool their talents, the outcome is strong and impressive. The outcome is the KONI FSD + Eibach Pro-Kit engineered suspension system.
The KONI FSD (Frequency Selective Damping) shock combines excellent road holding and handing characteristics with no-compromise comfort levels. It's a two-in-one solution from KONI that doesn't require the installation of sophisticated electronics, cables or sensors. Firmness for sporty driving on even road surfaces. Smoothness for a comfortable ride on uneven road surfaces.
Read more about KONI FSD shocks.
KONI's FSD shocks are paired with Eibach's Pro-Kit springs to lower the vehicle's center of gravity and give the car a more solid, secure feel at all times. They're the perfect answer for frequently driven street cars.

AND I might add spacers when we do the install at least in the rear if the wheels are not right at the fender edge.
Voila! Wish me luck hope it looks good and it is what I expect from a ride standpoint!

those wheels look reeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaallllly good on that silver c5. probably one of the only set of aftermarket wheels besided my stock sport wheels that i've actually thought looked good on these cars.

are those the RS4-DTM 18's? if so, i might just have to pick up a set of those for my car, especially because they're very resonably priced.

Beautiful rims. What did the Hartmanns set you back?

I really like the rims, nice and subtle. What was the price on those and do you know the weight?

Also, I really like the Koni kit that you are putting on and am anxious to hear about your results. Suspension is one of the top things on my list of to do's.

THANKS guys for the support/compliments, I am excited. Got an appointment set for Thursday next week, pics will follow then.

Answers to above:

I paid 265/rim and they are 25.5 lbs.

NJGOAT, I will let you know about the kit, gotta let thing settle a while before makig a final analysis but first few days will tell me if I wated $ trying to improve the ride while maintaining handling/lowering. Car will definitely sit a little higher, but Iam good with that

Marcin, you're in :) No worries

Those are awesome! I've been looking for something for my silver C5 but nothing really looked good except the old RS4 rims, but then I'd look like an S-Line. Can't wait to see the pics.

alright, so I dropped off my car this morning.... they are installing FSD's, Eibach's, RS4 SDTM's, F1's and I decided to thrown in an oil change too! It's been 6 k miles and I usually do one every 5.

Now I got to sell my 17 BBS RC and Koni/H&R sports....

Will post first impressions and pics tonight or tomorrow since I am going out with the guys tonight!

Frenchy,

I'm curious to see how this will turn out. Post pics ASAP!

looks good in my opinion, I saw it rolling as they were test driving it.. hot :)
More important it rides good. only issue is tires are too big... the Goodyear 245 is significant;y wider, taller and squarer than the khumos and Toyos...
They are tight and rub... so they gotta go and be replaced by 235's.
Pics uploading, will post then

It doesnt look that much higher :) heh How is the ride?

It looks GREAT.

formulagigi

no, surprisingly it is very low for an Eibach setup and compared to my buddy's A6 above.
But hey i am ok with that :) It rides awesome, realy nice both suspension and tires are great.
I just took pictures today and will post them...
The replacement 235 tires are on back order so might b 1 to 2 weeks [:@]
So I am putting the stockies back on until the new tires arrive. The goodyear F1 AS are great, smooth, real strong wall... they are just too big in 245:)

Looks good! Is there a significant difference in cornering/steering with the heavier wheels?

formulagigi
02-09-2008, 08:50 PM
No not that much difference, the car responds well and I just love them :) Price was right too.

It's certainly all coming together very nicely.

What's next in your master plan?

Nextare small things asI have put on the car most of can be done (cleanly, and with known/reliable brandname products)trying to black out the chrome trim front and side, getting the VAST Tip chip, smoked tail lights, modify/change mufflers for sound only, darker tint on back window, though about getting the R6 front end but pricey for what it is... trick is modding while keeping it clean and reliable for a DD. One thing i do want if I keep it is get a BBK next time my brakes need changing..
I also want to lift my jeep ansd get bigger tires on it.

Long term will be either STAGE3 or sell& get an RS6. ;)

Mike who installed my new suspension and wheels also took a few pics during install and posted on our local forum, I thought some of you might want to see them...

My pics are bigger, but for whatever reasons, the forum resizes them to this ridiculous size :)
