Default 1999 A4 1.8t weird intake sound above 3k - stalls - sucking air sound

Ok this just started hapening yesterday.... it idles drives fine right above 3000rpm it makes like a sucking noise and you can hear from the intake..
if you push it like 4-5k RPM it tries to accelerate but i dont wanna break anything

i took out the MAF cleaned it no change its like a rough sucking sound?

whats going on...

might be an exhaust leak or boost leak

but nothing serious i suppose? like my turbo going bad or the DV

if your turbo was going bad you would know it. that sound is unmistakable. and i doubt its the dv

Its kind of hard to tell from your description but I would say boost leak. Go get a boost gauge!

hmm...whats the steady boost that I should see on the gauge...without accelerating

You have a massive boost or vac leak. Thats why the car is stalling. You probably have it to where you can make some boost, but when you change gears, its stalls. Its basically like a bov that is open at idle, you leak a massive amount of metered air.

you shouldn't be boosting at all if your not accelerating

its raining crazy but ill check tommorow...its doing above 3k rpm so cant drive much doesnt matter what gear....
