Default Windshield wiper problem

Funny story: It was late and I wanted some ice cream but it was raining out and I didn't want to walk to UDF. So I get in my car and my passenger side windshield wiper doesn't work but I figure I can see out of my side of the windshield and UDF is only a two blocks away so its no big deal. Well I'm making a right turn and almost hit a pedestrian in the cross walk! Oops. But I have bigger problems than that.... like why isn't my windshield wiper working? Anyone have this happen before? 2000 A4 1.8TQM Thanks

Yeah, I even turned on the wipers and moved the passenger wiper as if it was working. I did that for about three minutes and it didn't catch on.

if the driver side wiper works and the passenger side doesnt then either the linkage is messed up, the teeth are stripped out on the passenger side, or the nut that holds it down is loose. go to the bottom of the passenger wiper and pop off the little black cap with a flathead screwdriver. see if that nut is loose. if its not loose, then try rotating the wiper blade with your hand and see if the thing in the middle of the nut is spinning too or not. if everything is spinning then the linkage is messed up between the 2 wipers. if its not spinning, then the nut is either too lose or the threads are stripped out
