Keeps doing some sort of forbidden dance?

Yes back again, with yet another problem, im not having much look at the minute

Any way, when idleing the needle seems to get stuck between 3-4000RPM and keeps twitching uncontrolaby, when accelerating it keeps doing this dance but moves up the RPM counter?

Theonly problem is thatits intermitent, which is a b*tch!

Any ideas?

I forgot to mention that the engine stays idling and drives fine, just the crazyneedle dance!

My starter motor is also on its way out, could this be connected in any way?

My thoughts on it is you have a short in the line for your tach. I had the problem with a VR6 Jetta. If you know your electrical its an easy fix. If not find a friend that does so you can save the hour mechanic charge. As for the starter how many miles do you have on it?

Tach being Tachometer,the actually RPM counter? (Very noob question, sorry)

So possible just a broken wire?

I found out yesterday thathe is99% sure itsthe starter motor, was meant to be brand new, but obviously not, its got tobe faulty, 2 months old! (not Audi)

But this needle buisness its a worry!
