Default New to audi and forum

Looking to buy a lightly used car. I'm going to be traveling around 80 miles a day so good gas milage is a plus, and living in MA, wanted something in a AWD. I was looking at both the BMW 325xi and 2006 A4 2.0T, both in auto. Any pro's / cons? As far as the A4 goes, there are two in specific I was looking at, the main difference between them, besides heated seats, is one has 17" rims (the ones on the A6 I believe) and the other with 16"; any performance difference between the two? I was also interested in hooking up an ipod adapter but I was told at the dealership the stock Audi installed one runs about $400 or so. Any DIY kits available? I've been reading a lot about "chipping" a car, for better performance, etc. I even read somewhere that its possible to have via the cruise control stick selection of various programs stored in the chip, for performance, gas milage, etc. Is this worth doing? How would I go about getting this done / price of it? Any help is appreciated.

first off welcome to the forums.

a lot of your answers can be found in the newbie guide:
http://www.audiforums.com/m_700266/tm.htm

you asked for a comparison of a BMW and a Audi so you probably know we will all say the Audi is better. But just so you know, the Audi AWD system (quattro) is the best there is and tops the xi awd system. The 2.0T will get better gas mileage then the 325xi as well since your comparing a 4 cyl turbo to an inline 6.

that should help you get started, hope you get the audi.

Thanks a lot for the link, I didn't even think of checking it before making a post.

Seemed to answer all of my questions besides the 16" vs 17". It also looks like you're pretty much screwed for any power mods if you have an auto.

you can still chip and exhaust, but if your going to get a big turbo kit, then yeah, just buy a manual.
