Looking at a CQ in my area, what can you tell me about them as far as modiblility and reliability goes?  Also what kind of after market stuff is out there for them?

i bought mine a year or two ago and after partial restoration to a decent everyday commuter, I don't see myself selling it anytime soon. As far as aftermarket, you won't have much luck with upgrading the engine unless you drop in a turbo but there is a good selection of aftermarket bumpers from similar models like the S2. I haven't done anything to mine other than replacing a lot of old parts in the engine and I easily wooped a saab 95's ass on the way home today.

I have had 3 over the years and always loved them.
The plus:
nice styling.
body is galvanized so no to very little rust.
you can easily instal a later 90 front end that makes the car more modern looking.
reliable engine.
confortable ride...
parts available new and used.
The minus:
Underpowered for a 3800 pound car
did i mentionned underpowered !
car is fun to drive, took mine to the track but 160some horsepower for 3800 pounds well you quickly want more.
no bolt on upgrades for that engine except for dropping a 20 valve turbo engine. The S2 version that was never sold in this country. ( that is what i did to my last one)
some suffer from a few electrical glitches but what Audi does not!
Hope this help, they are pretty inexpensive to buy and you will enjoy the ride.
