i have a vis c.f. hood on my a4. i would no reccomend putting the hood shock back on, it is too strong and will probably end up cracking the hood when you try to close it. i didnt hook up my washers yet so im not exactly sure, but if you pulled the harness off the old hood, just use those and find a way to attach it to the new hood. you can always drill holes, and run it through the hood, but then you have to buy lower profile washers i believe, mine looked like there was no chance of them fitting.
now i have a question for you, aside from clear coating it, do you kno ifthere areany other things i should do to keep it looking fresh?? i cant afford to clear it until the spring so im not sure what i should use to protect it until then.

paint seal leave it on for 24 hrs then put a wax on it for 24 hrs, and if there are any cats around i would suggest a cover or a shot gun.

no paint seal is somewhat like a cream wax, it's supposed to bind with the clear coat, to make a temp. extra layer of clear coat. it doesn't work that good as they say, but it will add more protection

you are going to need to cut eh hood to get the washer caps back on

as far as functionality, they are nice to have, but as far as looks go, the car generally looks better w/o them

whe hood shock will put too much stress on one point and cause mad spider cracks and possibly even crack through the resin...no hood shock, just keep a stick of wood or a baseball bat in your trunk...

gl!
