Default what would it take to get these (hp)numbers?

Hi,

I've got a 2000 (B5) A4 1.8T, the 150hp model. I want to up the hp and was thinking bigger turbo, etc. But I'm also thinking the less stuff I do the more $$$ I save towards an S4 (hopefully B6) somewhere down the line.

So here is what I'm wondering, I basically want to find out what hp I can get out of x amount of cash$ so I can do something cost efficient. I only want reliable mods, nothing just to save money, I'd rather pay more and get something I know won't mess up my car. I just want to see what bang for buck I can get so I can see if getting a much bigger turbo is worth it. Ideally I want about 300hp, but if the price (hypothetically) is 2000$ for 280hp and 4000$ for 300hp then my choice will be easy.

210 hp - (should be 500$ and just a chip)
235 hp - (chip and K04 ~ 1200$)?
235-350 - WHAT ARE SOME OPTIONS AND COSTS $$$
350 - (big turbo - like t3s60, bt chip, fmic, exhaust ~$4000 if I'm lucky)

Thanks,
Glen

GTRS. you'll need the turbo and oil lines, injectors, software, and fmic. probly gona want to get a stronger clutch in the near future too. its probly gona set you back ~2500 w/out the clutch and net you ~300hp

thanks chaos,

$2500 for 300hp sounds very good indeed, did you include a chip in thisprice? With this do I need a new exhaust as well?

With 300hp, for the clutch I do have a standard 5spd, I could probably drive around without changing this for at least a few years right? Especially if I'm not flooring it all the time right?

yup software included, but i didn't figure in install costs, so if your gona have someone else install this it'll be more. and 2500 is the most economy setup version. that should get you the turbo and oil lines, software, injectors, fmic, and tp. doing the exhaust is a good idea but not really needed. you could get away with having a tp and taking off one of your mufflers and replacing it with a straight pipe for really cheap, if your tight on money. or get a custom exhaust for a couple hundred. after that the first thing you should be getting is a clutch. if you don't drive it hard, it should hold up for a while, but i wouldn't bet on a few years. if you want to do the setup right the first time, plan on 3500 for everything (not installed)

or you could do a small t3t4 for slightly less money, but you'll have a little more lag. it will be easier on the stock clutch tho

You can do a t3s60 and t3t4 50trim both for $2500-2700 if dont correctly. That is for a complete kit. A 50trim with a .48 housing will spool about 400rpms or so faster than the .63 housing

Is there anything other then a turbo that would be a reasonable option, like say if I were to chip it and get an exhaust? Would I see any reasonable power gain?

chip and turboback would put you around 220-230bhp.

got ya back on track here..

but for those numbers you want, have you thought about peicing together your own PES T28 kit? PES chip, T25 manifold, 440cc injectors and you're set.. as well as other supportingmods. but that's neither here nor there
