RE: 2.8 performance questions
The SpeedTuning chip (or GIAC or APR, etc) and tip chip are not mutually exclusive. They do different things. I think the tip chip is around $500. SpeedTuning is probably closer to $200, but you'd have to email them to be sure. If you're going to get one or the other or one and then save up for the other, get the SpeedTuning chip. My car really does feel significantly peppier and I would bet the gains are close to what SpeedTuning claims (what, ~20 hp?). The tip chip won't net you horsepower. And yeah, on your car, the chip would have to be soldered in. Which, in the case of SpeedTuning, means shipping your ECU out and not being able to drive it for a few days (unless you live within driving distance of their shop).
