Default Gunk!!!

My oil icon flashed the other day and I checked the dipstick and found I was down about two quarts. Not only did this surprise me but I was also surprised by the beige/gray colored gunk-sludge that had accumulated on and around the oil filler cap. Their was a considerable amount, probably a cups worth that I could see!! (I hope there isn't more further in!!) Has anyone else experienced this?? I realize that the 2.0T does use more oil than a non-turbo enginemight but two quarts in about 6K miles seems a lot. Anyway, the car goes to the dealer Friday. Any insight you all might provide before then would be appreciated.

Thanks all.

I believe that oil around the oil filler cap is an indicator of a PCV problem (known weak point on 2.0T's).

Short trips in winter will give you the sludge - it's condensation from the moror not getting up to operating temp.A good 2o minute run at full temp should make it disappear, unless you have a head gasket problem.
