Default 2006 A6 4.2: using both iPod and CD Changer in MMI. Possible?

Hi,

I'm about to buy a 2006 A6 4.2 and understand that Audi makes an adapter that connects your iPod to the MMI, allowing you to scroll through the menus, etc. However, since there's only 1 digital input on the MMI, connecting the iPod renders the CD changer useless. Is there an aftermarket adapter that allows you to switch between your iPod and the CD Changer on-the-fly?

Thanks!
Scott

Scott,
If you are looking for an adapter for the factory stereo, check Crutchfield. They have an adapter with two rca in jacks with one rca out. Hope that helps.

Thanks, but I found something incredible made by Dension. Check this out: http://enfigcarstereo.com/shopsite_s...GW5RMT0D1.html

Works like a charm!

Denison is much cheaper than the Audi counterpart. Audi wants approx. $1,200 plus labor to retrofit.

I just bought a CPO 06 and I am very interested in wiring this car to support an ipod thru the MMI. Princeton audi in NJ quoted my 1600 to install it there way. How would I go about doing it myself with this Dension product? Is it a DYI project or should it be left to pros? I'd hate to create any squeeks or wrattles by not doing the install correctly. Thanks.

Christian at Enfig (which is a small shop he owns and runs) did the install for $60. Took him 20 minutes, but he said the first time took him 1.5 hours. Now that he has the hang of it, it's really very easy. Personally, even though I'm fairly technical, I'd recommend having him do it. Enfig is just 2 miles from Lincoln Tunnel, so if you're not too far away, it may be the best bet.

FYI, the box installs behind the CD changer in the glove box. It has a few wires to connect, but the b*tch is getting it all to fit into that small space. $60 may be worth saving an hour or more of frustration. )
