RE: wiper blades stuck up

I had the same problem. Took it back to dealer and he connected it to the computer and hey presto all fixed. I thought it was a mechanical problem but its an electronics problem. Hope this helps

did the dealer charge you for this? I called my local dealer and they told it was a blown fuse but i checked today and there not any. I wanted to get an idea for cost before i go in there.
thanks,

you can fix this yourself, you just need to undo this one nut...

from another post:
i dont know if you have ever worked on wipers before, but you will know what im talking about once you take a look.

There is a single motor that just spins aroudn in one direction. Then there is a 4 bar linkage that attaches to it. As the motor spins, it rotates this linkage which allows the wipers to back and forth.

If the wipers are frozen to the window, the motor will rotate and the wipers wont. Basically what is happening is that the little gear set skips a few teeth.

All you have to do to fix this is remove the cover (if you have one) up by where the battery is, and
look to see where the linkage attaches to the motor.

It will look just like this:

The bottom nut holds the linkage and motor together, you loosen that nut and turn the linkage back to the 'home' position, then bolt it back together. The home position should be approximately what is pictured.

It will take a couple trys to get it right, but it's really not that hard. I can look around and see if i have any pictures of this

were you able to find any pics of this? I tried but I can't see where to unscrew the nut Thanks

I would not try taking them off. I tried that and it didn't solve the problem, it just ended up stripping the cogs. Take it either to a dealer or a german auto specialist and they will reset them for you.

I fixed my wipers by removing the plastic cover over the window motor and spraying the disks where the arm attaches with brake cleaner. Try it also it might work for you

This is a temporary fix, if you want to completely fix it you need to take the whole assembly apart and lubricate it with grease and put it back together. Also, the thread is over a year old...
