Default 2001 Gas Mileage

How about some good news for a change on this forum ....

Just finished up an East Coast trip in our '01 A8 with 68k miles on the odometer, all in all about 2200 miles of driving. (BTW - Not a glitch) Cruise Control set at 75 MPH this baby pulled in 27.7 MPG on flat land with a range of over 600 miles! During one 60 MPH stretch on flat land in Central FLA we saw 35.2 MPG with the cruse set right on 60 MPH.

Is there another V8 on the planet that gets this kind of mileage? What do the BMW and Mercedes V8s deliver?

Bravo to a wonderful ride.

Default RE: 2001 Gas Mileage

My '01 will show around 27mpg at "normal" highway speeds on a long trip but when I checked the actual math at fill-up, it was really a bit lower. The average mileage over normal driving shows about 20 even. That's really amazing for such a big powerful car. My '93 740 averaged about 1 mpg more, if you believe the computer.
