Default Welding on an A8 frame?

I need some advice. I have some small hairline cracks on my strut towers and am looking at having them welded. I have a shop that will do it if I sign a release, otherwise it's a couple of week wait at an authorized Audi repair shop. Any opinions or experience with welding on one of these frames? The guythat's going to be doing the job doesn't think it's any big deal. Thanks

Thanks, no I don't have any photos but the cracks are up under the hood and they come from the outside of the tower in towards the center. I am takingoff the air cleaner box and the the coolant reservior and then tucking up any cables or hoses up as far away as possible. I am worried a bit about the heat and the electrical connections on the passengers side, but I guess as long as the heat sinks work the way they are supposed to, I will be alright.
