I'm pretty mechanically inclined, building the rx7 from scratchetc. I'm going to take the wheel off today after work but I just wanted to see if anyone knows the exact issue before I go at it. My back right tire grinds when I brake, then slowly goes away till I brake again. Slight noise maybe 2% of the time i hear a squeek at highway speeds. The wheel is also covered in brake dust much more than the other wheels.

Everything points toward something wrong with the brake and not a wheel bearing, but are there any issues with these cars on calipers sticking etc? I'm not sure how the rear brakes function yet as I havent looked at it but I know on my mustang there was a slider boltwith grease that could lock the caliper up. Any issues like this?

My car had a problem with the caliper sticking in the rear so I replaced pads,rotors,and calipers. After you drive check to see if the rim of the car is hotter then the others because that a pretty good indication that you have a sticking caliper. Good luck and I hope everything works out.

Edit:Check to make sure the heat shield is not rubbing on the rotor.

Check if your break pad is work off. I learned almost the heard way that our rear break pads dont have sensors to tell us when they are low like the fronts do. I jsut changed my rear pads and i figure i had maby 200~ miles left on em before they would have been completely gone

ya chck the pad, take off the caliper and grease the pins. also check to see if the caliper is seized or not.

Yeah, I figured it may just be the pad is completely gone. I just wanted to know if there was a particular problem with the caliper cause the audi dealership is a mile away from work and about 20 miles away from my home. That way I could just pick one up after work.

No common problems that i know of with audi breaks. Just stick a flashlight back there and check it out. if its grindin, someone needs some new breaksssss

Just for an update. The caliper slide bolt was frozen causing the outside pad to not be used at all while the inside pad was down to the metal. The rotor could definatly be in better shape but I just threw the pad on the outside on the inside and put the new pad back on the outside of the rotor. That way I can find out if I have to buy a new rotor without ruining a new pad.
