Default Dice info

Ok, ok please don't flame me if some of the following questions sound retarded, and yes I did do a search but.....

The dice ipod hook up, it is plug and play correct?
How is the install? Does it require removal of the head unit or is it connected through the glove box?
If so how do you connect it through the glove box?
How is the sound quality?
How is the ipod controlled? Can you use the ipod's click wheel while connected?

Thanks for all your help.

j.

Default RE: Dice info

I just got one... and installed it myself in a couple hours.
sound quality is great! (althoughmine tends to make a clicking sound when the iPod is not hooked up and you leave the source selected to the iPod)

It does require removal of the stereo (using special keys) to remove the factory stereo. The installation was easy, but you MUST ground the unit for it to function properly. I just wired the grounding wire to a screw on the stereo case (as this is grounded.) Of course, test yours first with a voltmeter.

As for the controls.. I have the base factory stereo and it works, but it basically functions like a CD Changer.
Disc 1 - cycles through songs
Disc 2 - cycles through playlists
Disc 3 - cycles through Albums..
... etc.

The dice module also allows an extra source input (ie other source input) (so you can hook up two devices DVD, etc.)

It also operates in two modes ("Dice mode" - the above mode, which operates with the CD Changer controls) and another simple "iPod" mode.

The "Dice" mode does not let you use the ipod click wheel. I believe the iPod mode will let you accomplish this.
I am actually thinking about switching mine to this mode next.

Hope this helps!
Steve

Thanks a lot. How do you get the keys by the way?

I bought mine from an "ebay" store (integration_solutions). They included the keys with the order. But I'm sure you can get them from any VW/Audi dealer. Good luck!
