I understand. I'm a noob and I do all my searching first. If I can't find what I need, then I post the question.

It really doesn't bother me, people are intimidated easily. I have over 800 PM's in my inbox and 75% of those are some serious newbie questions. Like where is my hood release!? That i can understand why someone wouldn't wanna post that one. Live and let learn.

Before I reg in here I was checking Mercedes and BMW forums... (I wasn't sure if I should get the E39,E46,w210,w203 or A6)... and I observed that they are really more into mods... and in here is more like a maintenance things..

More enthusiastic I guess...

I know Repeat questions can be a pain....But, Sometimes re-posts get different people looking at the posts and you come up with some different advice, and old post with a problem that wasn't as known as it is now, could get a new, or better answer than before. I personally have never used the search, but then again I haven't asked many questions, just commented here and their about my past experiences with problems in hopes of helping someone else out. I am sure, one of theses days...I will be looking for some help from you guys and I am glad that I am not looking like a total Noob here....hahahaha ... Even thought I kinda am. I think it is cool that most of us on here have fun with the site instead of just popping on here just assistance. The Noobies will get the hang of it and eventually add some input on alot of things.....Everyones gotta start somewheres.

hi all
well I am out sick a few days and one of those noob/search vent thread shows up!
Personally, here is how I see it:
1- Yes I would rather sometimes see users go through a search first (I.e.: the typical "should I buy the 4.2 or 2.7t") because I know is out there about 1,000,000,000,000 times, including probably once in the first page of the A6 form.
2- I do not get upset though if they don't search and just post...
3- As said above, you might get a new perspective, new flavor on the topic or question at hand. Maybe an expert will reply who did not get to see the prior threads, someone with a new experiences on the topic. a better answer or fix....
4- IF YOU DON'T LIKE THE POST or QUESTION, just don't keep reading, don't answer anx move on... why would you care? I am sure we ALL have more important things to worry or get frustated about.
5- We all sound like a noob to somone at some point of time
6- We'll all need help from each other most likely at some point, so learn to GIVE to those needs, you SHALL RECEIVE.
7- In all honesty, the search tool can sometimes be cumbersome and fruustrating to deal with, when posting a question takes 2 minutes can you can ask your own specific question... NO harm to anyone really, you're not forcing anyone to read or reply.
8- I am a noob, I know nothing in the big scheme of things and even in the smaller car world and I thank those who have helped me in the past (Auditech79 :) ) but I hope I helpd someone on this forum with my answers/PMs/emails.
9- This a forum, a community, where we should coexist practicing basic rules such as tolerance, working together for the betterment of the community, and helping those who need help even though the answer might be out there...
10- It is ok to vent! We all do! Good we can converse about it!

Cheers, going back to bed now! :)
PS Been stuck home for 4 days now and miss driving my car so much! The FLU sucks!

well, this post is somewhat inspired by me, being I have recently made such a post.
All I have to say is: how do you know a lot of these people used the search function and just weren't given the SPECIFIC ANSWER. DUH. Not all problems are the same, that's why this forum exists! To discuss anything specific about the A6! Let's all live in your world for a minute though.

GENERIC AUDI A6 POSTS!:
"I LIKE MY A6, DO YOU GUYS? OKAY THANKS BYE!"

no one would even go near the forum if we all posted like you want us to.
gee, will someone do a search on this guy's posts to see if he EVER asked ONE question AT ALL BEFORE. if he did, some one please cast the first stone. PLEASE.

well i'm def done. i just needed to vent a little bit, i def didn't expect it to start so many arguments! anyways, thanks for the compliment. i still need to do some things to get them to where i'd consider them "finished" (in quotes because i never feel like they're really done), but my '67 i've had since i was 13, so going on 9 years now. that's my pride and joy, my grandfather and i rebuilt the entire thing from the unibody up.

wow, so we're actually the same age basically. that's pretty sweet to know that i'm neither young nor old! on the 4runner forum i read, i'm young, on a wii gaming forum i frequent, i'm practically a grandpa. i love the color of the '67 so much, it's very original and adds to the cars style.
<--- we probably sound like this right about now. some faux hallmark moment where we finally set aside our differences and our eyes connect, focusing in on mine, then yours, and we hug. how i loathe those stereotypical moments.

OK OK OK

Here is what I really think!

I don’t mind people asking questions, but they should give us some details that include the year, specific mode, and appropriate options/modifications so we can answer intelligently.

I also don’t mind repeat questions because it is a pain to search through all the info, it keeps thing interesting, and sometimes there is new info.

But, I dislike –

Do you like my new wheels?
Should I buy my mom a pink Audi?
Which is better – a Autozone rubber mat or Cannon mat?
What should I look for when buying a glove compartment liner for my tricycle?
Why does my car make funny noises when there is no oil in the motor?
Look -- Look I just polished my Audi and it is prettier than yours!
My Audi smells like perfume and my GF just punched me in the nose -What should I do?
My Audi runs like crap – Will tuning my radio to a rock station help?
Does anyone know how I can replace the motor in my Audi for $0.27?
Why does the air leak out of my tire on Wed and Friday?
My dog peed on my shoe and I left it in the car for three weeks in the sun – Why does my car smell funny?
I’m thinking about buying and Audi and want to know which model and year is best for picking up blonds at the beach in December.
I just bought my first Audi and need to know why the emblem on the trunk doesn’t say that it has a turbo?  What? My V6 A6 does not have a turbo?
Why do my lights flicker when I go across the railroad tracks next to the Piggly Wiggly?
If I raced a Ford pickup loaded with beer, would my Audi be faster?
I am a newbe Audi owner and wonder if it is still OK to order a cinnamon latte at Starbucks?
If you read this far – it is time for you to get a real life!

Times have changed... When I was in college and we had a bit of down time we drank, chased girls, and tried to make the VW bug go faster.
