Actually it says just the opposite. The Audi won't use a boxer engine, but rather I4 and I5's. And there is no way in hell you're gonna see an AWD Boxster....

So basically porsche feels a bit threatened so they're buying out audi to keep their bottom line safe. As a result audi gets some of porsche's performance engineering and maybe some engines later down the line. Well even if it is a total buy out I wouldn't be mad. Last time porsche and audi hooked up the RS2 was the result. I see a bright future for the quattro brand.
But wait. If the R4 is gonna be mid engine coupe, whats gonna happen to the nose heavy TT?

You couldn't be more wrong. Porsche has had an interest in VAG way before they days of the RS2. They've owned at least a third of VAG for the last 15 year now. They feel about as 'threatened' by Audi as Ford does by Boeing.

If you want to go back farther, Ferdinand Porsche started Volkswagen. Thats why the first Volkswagen air cooled flat 4 is very similar to the older Porsche air cooled flat 6.

so does this mean they will throw yellow porsche brakes on audis, so guys can quit getting them off ebay and salvage cars, and for the real guys with money, just going in and buying them?
porsche didn't start VW... they partnered for awhile back when UAG started racing the Audi Silver Bullet. The guy that started UAG and Audi (forgot his name) worked for porsche and parted ways to start his own
and Audi doesn't own Lambo... VW owns Audi and Lambo...

Wikipedia is rad!
The company (VW VAG) has had a close relationship with Porsche, the Zuffenhausen-based sports car manufacturer founded in 1931 by Ferdinand Porsche, the original Volkswagen designer. The first Porsche cars, the 1948 Porsche 356, used many Volkswagen components including a tuned engine, gearbox and suspension. Later collaborations include the 1969/1970 VW-Porsche 914, the 1976 Porsche 924 (which used many Audi components and was built at an Audi factory), and the 2002 Porsche Cayenne (which shares engineering with the VW Touareg). In September 2005, Porsche announced it was buying a 20% stake in Volkswagen at a cost of €3 billion, with the intention that the combined stakes of Porsche, Volkswagen and the government of Lower Saxony ensure that any hostile takeover by foreign investors would be impossible [1]. In July Porsche increased their ownership to 25.1% and in March 2007 to 30.9%.
