Hi folks,

I'm new to Audi (http://www.audiforums.com/tm.asp?m=8100),
and was wondering of there are any "standard mods" people do with their
A6's. When I got my IS300, it was pretty standard to get an I/E
(Intake/Exhaust.. didn't see that one in the glossary list) or FFAF
(Free Flow Air Filter) for a performance mod, new rims for external mod
and dash kit for internal. Then people would move on to body kits,
chips/ECU updates, clear side markers, etc... Anything like that for
the A6?

Since the car is new to me, I probably won't do much for a while aside
getting a tint, and I'd love to replace the automatic shift knob.

Also, am I missing something on how to do the seat memory? I'm following the direction in the manual, but it doesn't seem to work.. or I'm doing something wrong.

* Sit in car, turn it on
* Adjust my seat and mirrors
* Press 'M' and '1' together for at least a second. I've hit 'M' first, then held '1', pressed at the same time, etc..
* Readjusted the seat and mirrors
* Press '1'... nothing happens. I'll turn off the car, back on... press '1'... nothing.
* I've done this list with the 'Stop' button in both positions, just in case.

Am I doing something wrong, or could the unit not be working? It doesn't seem to give any indication, like a beep, that it has been saved. Since when my wife takes the car out she adjusts things and doesn't put them back, this would be handy.

I don't have the memory feature and don't know about the procedure for the actual seat buttons. But... I did find this quote re: programming your keys to correspond to the seat memory though. I guess you can save it for the future. I'll keep looking for the answer to your question.

Turn the ignition on (don't start the car - just get electrical) with one key (not the one you are programming), close the door, manually lock it with the key that you want to program, then unlock it with the button while the key stays in the lock, hit the Key the number of times you want it to correspond to the seat memory number (ie hit it once for memery one, hit it twice for memory two)."

Yeah, that's pretty much in the manual for having a key match one of the memory buttons. I can't get that far yet, since it doesn't seem like the buttons work. Maybe the unit isn't working, or a fuse is blown or following the manual doesn't work. Thanks for looking. I'll probably have the Audi folks look at it whenever I get a chance to drive down there (not close to me).

My A6 does the same thing.. I switched keys and it was fine for a day, until my wife unlocked it with her key and now its back to how it was.. Try switching keys :-D

We've been using the same key. The manual says something about a #1 and #2 key. Maybe the one we're not using is the #1 key and it will only save when using it?! Tomorrow I'll try the other key :)

That's what I think, but that wouldn't seem to make sense because wouldn't Driver 2 want to set their seat? Or are Driver 2 and 3 expected to set it on the key 1 mem too? That is one thing I never understood [&:]

Actually I got it working today.. Before you put your key in, press and HOLD the button until everything lines up. That is assuming you got it set with mem.
Press and hold mem and 1 key when your stuff is in position.
Move it out of position.
Hold 1 to get it back.

Did this get sorted out?

I took the car to Audi for a service since it's still under warranty. I told them I couldn't get the memory to work, and wasn't sure if it was user error, or something broken. It was something broken (I'm a programmer, and was pretty sure it wasn't user error! :eek: ). So they ordered a new one for me. There was also some seals which were causing a small oil leak which they are going to fix up. My brakes had a slight squeek, so they replaced them, and replaced some warped rotars. Gotta love warranty!

The funniest thing though. I was sitting there waiting and watching TV. The TV wasn't even attached to a cable box, and the reception was pretty poor. On one side of me (2 feet) was an expensive loaded red TT Roadster, and on the other was a crappy cable-less TV. I told one of the sales guys he should sell a few cars so they could afford a $40/month cable service. Not sure if he got my tongue-in-cheeck.
