Default Tire Pressure Monitoring

My tire pressure monitoring system has failed. At first it could be reset and then there was a malfunction notice and now new pressures cannot be set.
Has anyone else experienced problems in this area?
This is a 2004 A8L

-move selection arrow to set by rotatingturn /pushknob
-press turn/ push knob. setting menu apers
-move selection arrow to tire pressureby rotating the knob
-press turn/ push knob. submenu tire pressure appears
-move selection arrow to store pressure!
-press knob and turn. a check mark appears. system responds with the current tire pressure will be saved
-move selection arrow to back
