I have a 2001 A4 Quattro. The car was running just fine yesterday and all of a sudden the CEL came on...... I previously purchased a vag can scanner to aid me in removing any unnecessary CELS. The problem is..... when I try connecting to the obd2 port thr scanner lights up and stays on but when trying to do a scan after a few seconds the words "linking Error"keep coming up. removed the battery terminal to reset the CEL and it worked but for some odd reason the scanner still comes with the "LInking Error"!!!! Anyone know what it may be?? please let me know
You probably have not configured the software to connect to the proper serial port on your laptop. You need to go to your Device Manager in Windows and see which port is used (COM1, COM2, COM3, etc... after you installed the USB to Serial driver), then match this in the VAG-COM software and test the connection.
